A Love Letter to my Inner Child / Inner Being

Unexpectedly, we transformed our relationship from Friendship to Love and when I say “I love you” I want you to know what it means for me.

I love you for me means I want you to be happy.

I love you for me means I want you to shine your brightest.

I love you for me means you will never be alone.

I love you for me means you are safe with me emotionally. I will not shush you.

I love you for me means you are safe with me physically. I will protect you.

I love you for me means you are safe with me mentally. I will not torture you and bombard you.

I love you for me means you are safe with me spiritually. I will not hold you back and doubt you. 

I love you for me means you can count on me when you need me the most.

I love you for me means I will not abandon you in your hour of need.

I love you for me means you are not alone.

I love you for me means, you and me babe ‘til the end.

I love you for me means I will be with you when you’re sad.

I love you for me means I will be your number 1 supporter.

I love you for me means I allow you to be yourself – whatever that means.

I love you for me means I will listen to you.

I love you for me means I will be patient with you.

I love you for me means I will not do anything to harm you.

I love you for me means I will not scold you for not listening to my advice.

I love you for me means I will not make you feel guilty.

I love you for me means you get to be human with me.

I love you for me means you can tell me anything – even the craziest, meanest, darkest things.

I love you for me means you won’t be doing things alone.

I love you for me means we can be quiet together.

I love you for me means I will allow you to have fun.

I love you for me means I will gently show you when your ego is getting the best of you.

I love you for me means I want you to have the healthiest body and healthiest life.

I love you for me means we can laugh together.

I love you for me means I will push you enough to achieve your dreams and be gentle enough when you need to rest.

I love you for me means making your favorite hot chocolate drink with cinnamon and walnut milk.

I love you for me means letting you have your one-hour quiet meditation.

I love you for me means feeding you the best and healthiest food!

I love you for me means not criticizing your work when you’re only just starting.

I love you for me means I’m your ally no matter who is against you.

I love you for me means I will walk with you through the darkest path.

I love you for me means I’ll be cheering you on in every small and big win.

I love you for me means not judging you and comparing everything you do against someone else’s work and progress.

I love you means you can trust me.

I love you means I’m your bestfriend for life.

I love you means we are in this together.

I love you means I believe in you.

I love you means I will carry your dreams with me – even when the whole world doubts you.

I love you means I will care for you and you don’t have to worry about anything.

I love you means your wounds are safe with me. I accept them.

I love you means no matter how wounded you are, I will be there for you and I will not leave you.

I love you means you can show me your worst and I will be here for you. I will not judge you.

I love you means I will be here for you in the hardest part of your healing and the easy parts, too.

I love you means you don’t have to pretend with me – I accept you.

I love you means I forgive you.

I love you means you can be lazy with me and I will not judge you.

I love you means I will not make you achieve dreams that are not yours.

I love you means I will not push you to exhaustion.

I love you means we get to be scared together.

I love you means I will not let you stay in a toxic environment or relationship.

I love you means I will not let you sell yourself, your values, your character for some material return.

I love you means I will tell you over and over again that you are enough. That you have always been enough. That you don’t need to be enough. You don’t need these metrics. None.

I love you means I will let you stare at the blue skies and daydream.

I love you means I will create a safe space for you to create, to cry, to be messy, to be lazy, to make friends, to end friendships, to make mistakes – lots of ‘em, to never ever have to apologize for being different. I will create a safe space for you to commune with God, with nature, with other beings from this world and other worlds. I will create a safe space for you to bring out your gifts, to discover more gifts, and enhance those gifts.

I will create a safe space for you to play – for as long as you like.

I will create a safe space for you to look in the mirror and see what others see, what you don’t see, what no one sees.

I love you.

I know you’ve heard these three little words before and you were left broken-hearted. So this is my testament to you that I will keep rereading, maybe even adding, as I discover more of you and watch you blossom more into the limitless, luminous light being that you are.

This letter is for the sweet child in me who felt abandoned and unsafe for a long time.

For the first time, I acknowledge the strained, volatile relationship I’ve had with my inner self, my inner child, inner goddess, inner being, my soul.
